Academic Writing: first week assignment (summary)

The book "writing at university" by Creme and Mary R from the page 51-57 about "reading as part of writing" are summarized into 4 point.


The first point is about approaching reading

      To approach and start reading a text, we need to focus and concentrate into the text that we read. This is used to make us easily gather the information and help us to understand the text. If we didnt concentrate while reading our text, it might leading to making our reading comprehension is less effective and did not get the content of the text.


The second point is about choosing reading for an assignment

      It important to choose the right reading text for a writing assignment. By choosing the right reading text for your writing assignment, you could gather the most relevant book article as your references. Instead, if we choose a book that may not relevant to your assignment, you'll strugling while doing the assignment due to the irrelevancy references which makes you writing assignment doesn't get the most importance point.


The second point is about working with your reading

       While reading a book, it is also important to re-read the book for several times. This is not used just for a repetition, but also to get the whole point of the text so that you could gather more information and makes you understood about the content. This could happen because sometime when we read a text, we oftenly forget or missed some information due to the dense and complex text comprehension. 


And the last point is about thinking about the difference text

       By reading any other and a lot more references of book. We could increase our variety of idea, insighy and words selection because of the variety of book that we've read.

 Name: Bayu Abdul Basit Class: 4B NIM: 2223210055 Academic writing is a subject that im currently learns in this 4th semester. I have learned writing subject since the 1st semester, and this is by far the brand new experience, because of the difference between the past writing subject and the current. In this semester, unlike the past semester, i will learn more about revising example, editing, and wrting technique which are having the higher academical language.
